Break and Enter Interrupted by Home owner

Victoria BC – An early morning break and enter to a secure parking area was interrupted by a homeowner on Sunday morning.

The homeowner had heard noises from the secure parkade around his residence in the 400-block of William Street in Esquimalt. When he went out to investigate he saw the man and then confronted him, even going so far as to grab his arm in an attempt to prevent the would-be thief from fleeing.

The suspect then threatened the homeowner with a threat of a knife, at which time he was let go and fled northbound on William Street.

Numerous officers attended the area including a VicPD K9 unit and started a search for the suspect. Although an extensive search was conducted, the suspect remains at large.

He is described as a native male, approximately 18 to 19-years-old and about 5’10” tall.  He was wearing a black New York Yankees hat, black jacket, jeans and a red scarf with red shoes.

VicPD is still looking to identify this individual. If you have any information please contact VicPD on the non-emergency line at 250-995-7654 or anonymously on Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
