Capital Regional District Appoints New Chief Administrative Officer #yyj

Victoria, BC– - The Capital Regional District (CRD) Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Lapham as the new Chief Administrative Officer of the CRD, effective immediately.

Reporting to the 24 elected officials that make up the CRD Board of Directors, Mr. Lapham will lead more than 500 employees and manage numerous external contributors in providing a wide variety of services to residents in the Capital Region. Mr. Lapham was selected following a competitive North American wide executive search, due to his exemplary leadership and regional government experience.

Mr. Lapham will assume overall administrative responsibility for the CRD’s more than 200 regional, sub-regional and local services and agreements including: regional planning, water supply, waste management and disposal, resource recovery, environmental protection, regional parks and recreation facilities, housing, protective services, emergency response and other services.

The CRD has budget authority over the $750 million Core Area Wastewater Treatment Program budget and owns the Capital Regional Housing Corporation. The position will also include the role as CAO of the Capital Regional Hospital District.

Robert Lapham succeeds Kelly Daniels who recently retired from the CRD.
