VICTORIA, B.C. – The
University of Victoria Vikes men’s golf team has finished the three-round
California State University San Marcos Invitational, hosted by the Shadowridge
Country Club, in sixth place at plus-59 with a team score of 923.
TOP 20 / INDIVIDUAL / TEAM
Taking top spot were No. 2-ranked Oklahoma City, shooting plus-21 with the team carding 885 after three rounds. In second place were hosts CSU-San Marcos with a plus-27 and an overall team score of 891.
After a day one total of 146, at plus-2, rookie Vike Jesse Teron (Red Deer, AB)wrapped up his three rounds tied for 18th in a field of 85 golfers after shooting 80 in his final round for an overall score of 226, 10 over.
Veteran Vike Samuel Holland (New Minas, NS) posted a final score of 231 (75-78-78) and tied for 32nd while teammate Matthew Broughton (Victoria, BC) shot 232 (82-72-78) and tied for 34th. Fourth-year James Holland (New Minas, NS) had a scorecard of 237 (79-77-81) tying for 48th and fellow Vike Sean Hay (Victoria, BC) shot a 241 (81-81-79) to tie for 56th.
Next up for the UVic men is a trip to Los Angeles, CA to compete in the Master’s College Spring Invitational, Mar. 3-5.
