Victoria, BC – One man is in custody pending charges for attempted robbery after returning to a bank he had just attempted to rob.
Today,
at approximately 1:30 p.m., a 39-year-old Victoria man entered the
Scotia Bank located in the 700-block of Yates Street. The man approached
a teller to conduct a transaction and then, after mumbling something
under his breath, informed the teller that he had just attempted to rob
her. He then asked the teller for feedback on how the robbery was
proceeding. The teller remained silent to the man’s inquiries, and the
man then left without obtaining any money. Bank staff called 911 and
VicPD officers immediately attended.
While
officers were inside the bank investigating, a member of the bank staff
observed a man matching the suspect’s description walking past the
large windows and then curiously peering in. Officers quickly detained
the man and compared him with bank surveillance photographs. Confident
they had their man, he was then arrested and transported to cells.
