Victoria BC – One man is recovering at home and
another is in jail after a serious incident last night at Quadra Street and
Pandora Avenue.
VicPD received numerous 911 calls at approximately 10:30
p.m. from witnesses in the area of Quadra Street and Pandora Avenue who stated
a white truck had just run over a man after dragging him for half a block.
Witnesses also stated that the truck took off after hitting the victim.
Officers arrived within minutes to find the victim, a
39-year-old Victoria man, lying in the middle Pandora Avenue. The man was
seriously injured and in excruciating pain as witnesses stated he had been run
over by the rear tires of the truck.
The victim was taken to the Victoria General Hospital in
serious condition, but he was able to relay to officers what had
happened. Detectives are investigating what was reported as an argument
between the driver of the truck and the victim.
Officers continued their investigation and one of VicPD’s K9
teams located a similar looking vehicle just after 1 a.m. The vehicle was
stopped on Burnside Road, just east of Balfour Road and the suspect matched the
description of the driver from earlier in the night.
The officer questioned the driver who admitted involvement
and related a version of events that police are investigating. The 34-year-old
North Saanich man was arrested and is being held for court this afternoon. He
is facing possible charges of Aggravated Assault and Failing to Remain at the
Scene of a Collision.
