Ceremony to commemorate HMCS Esquimalt April 16th #cfbesquimalt @EsquimaltBC @BarbDesjardins @MARPAC


ESQUIMALT, B.C.CFB Esquimalt Base Commander Captain (Navy) Bob Auchterlonie and Township of Esquimalt Mayor Barb Desjardins will co-host a memorial service honouring the service and sacrifice of the crew of HMCS Esquimalt on April 16, 2013.

When:  5:15 p.m. Tuesday 16 April, 2013

Where:  Esquimalt Memorial Park, across from Municipal Hall, 1229 Esquimalt Road.

HMCS Esquimalt was the last Canadian warship lost to enemy action during the Second World War when it was torpedoed in the approaches to Halifax on the morning of April 16, 1945.  The last of the twenty-seven crewmembers who survived the attack passed away in 2012.
